Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has signed up to join Turkish club Fenerbahce when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to Murat Zorlu, a member of the club’s congress, the former German international has a 90% chance of joining the Turkish club next month.

Zorlu said Digital sports: “A source, who is very well connected to the club, has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.

“I would say 90% will join us in a month.”

Ozil has not played for Arsenal this season and has been left out of the Premier League and the Europa League squad.

Mikel Arteta clearly does not consider it part of his plans with the first team and the former world champion needs to move on in search of regular first team football.

Despite the Gunners desperately needing a creative midfielder, the 92-game German international has failed to see him this season.

The midfielder’s form has receded over the past year, but he remains a quality player who should play regularly at this stage in his career.

A move away from Arsenal would be ideal for Ozil at this point and it will be interesting to see if all parties can agree to a transfer next month.

Arsenal is also believed to be interested in ditching the player due to his massive £ 350,000 weekly salary.

If Ozil moves to Turkey, he may have to lower his salary demands for the transfer to take place. Fenerbahce is unlikely to be able to afford his huge salary, although Arsenal may end up subsidizing part of his salary to take most of them off the books for the next 6 months.
