Mesut Ozil, outcast from Arsenal, is in advanced talks with MLS’s DC United, according to a report.
Ozil has not played since March and was left out of the Gunners’ 25-man Premier League squad by Mikel Arteta at the start of the season.
It has been linked to moves to China and Turkey in recent transfer windows but, according to football, london, is now close to making a change to the United States. Ozil is said to be in negotiations with DC United, and MLS is offering him a lucrative deal.
The package includes a commitment to help the player grow their ‘M10’ brand, not the highway, in the country. DC United also offers to advertise its 39 Steps Coffee inside its stadium, in addition to giving it its own product line and the opportunity to be the face of the club.
His current contract with Arsenal expires at the end of June, which is midway through the 2021 MLS season. However, as Ozil is considered to be in excess of the requirements in North London, the club may let him leave earlier.
The German is not the only player to leave the Gunners in the near future. After letting Sead Kolašinac and William Saliba go on loan this month, the club is also hoping to see the back of Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Like Ozil, he was left out of the club’s Premier League squad and, according to Fabrizio Romano, Genoa has asked for the defender.
Arsenal had linked up with some of their own signings in recent weeks with a creative midfielder considered a priority. Wantaway Real Madrid star Isco has been one of those linked, although the appearance of Emile Smith-Rowe may cause Arteta to re-evaluate his priorities.
