Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman believes that Lionel Messi is gradually recovering his best level after a double against Athletic Bilbao.
Messi scored twice, to accompany Pedri’s goal, at San Mamés on Wednesday when Barça achieved a 3-2 victory.
The star has been involved in 10 goals in his last 10 matches in all competitions, scoring eight and assisting two.
And Koeman feels Messi, who has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances this season, is on the mend.
“From the first day I arrived at the club I think Lionel Messi has given everything,” he said at a press conference.
I was not surprised by its quality because it has obviously been showing how good it is for years. It may be true that it has been less effective than normal so there could have been doubts, but now you are doing much better, you are comfortable at the moment and you feel up to the challenge.
“This is how I feel. But I think Messi is the one who can best answer that.”

Pedri annulled Iñaki Williams’ first goal before Messi’s double, and Barça placed third in LaLiga despite Iker Muniain’s late goal.
Koeman also praised Ousmane Dembele, who along with Pedri and Antoine Griezmann had three key passes, the most of the game.
“I think everything starts with the player himself. If the player feels comfortable and in good physical shape, he can play well, ”he said.
“I don’t think there have ever been doubts about his quality, at least in my opinion, but there have been questions about his ability to stay in shape. At the moment he seems to be in top form and I have to think about the match schedule ahead of us and when we can give him a break because he has not played regularly for a long time.
“He also has to learn to manage his playing time. But in terms of the football he can play, we know what he can bring to the team. He is very good in attack, he attacks with the ball and those are good qualities for us ”.
Barça, who are seven points behind league leaders Atlético de Madrid, and have played two more games, will visit Granada on Saturday.
