Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised his “physical monster” Scott McTominay after the Manchester United midfielder made Premier League history by defeating rivals Leeds United.

Manchester United shattered visiting Leeds at Old Trafford in a 6-2 win, with the first two goals in three minutes.

McTominay scored both, the first double in the competition, as it turned into a dominant solo display.

The Scottish international also assisted Daniel James for the fifth goal in one of three chances created, while covering 10.8 kilometers, the third most among Man United players, and weighed defensively with five clearances.

Although McTominay limped in injury time due to a groin problem, Solskjaer pointed to the player’s immense energy at the heart of the team as key; the notoriously hard-working Leeds ran just 2.6 km further than the Norwegian team.

“We knew they had a lot of energy and intense moments,” said the coach. But the strikers’ movements and the cleanliness of some of the movements allowed Scott to have room in front of him with the ball at his feet.

“He is a physical monster. He does all his work, meticulously every day. It never eludes anything.

“And he receives his reward for his physical form and his technical work as well. He is improving, with space in front of him he can run.
