The Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele have explained how the statements of former international Bafana Bafana could affect the talented player

Baroka FC President Khurishi Mphahlele is not impressed with Mamelodi Sundowns legend Joel, “fires” Masilela, who recently made statements about his son, Thamsanqa Masiya.

Masilela recently stated that there is a clause in the speedy winger’s contract with Baroka that gives Sundowns first preference to sign him again.

Masiya grew up in the Sundowns Academy alongside players like Sphelele Mkhulise, Percy Tau and Keletso Makgalwa and was promoted to the first team in 2015.

Mphahlele has now criticized Masilela’s ‘reckless’ statements and made it clear that they could never agree to include a scoring clause in a player’s contract.

“There have been reports that we have signed Thami Masiya with a clause that says Sundowns has a preference to sign it first,” Mphahlele said in Far pole.

“Apparently we can’t sell it to any team except Sundowns because of that clause. We want to clarify that this is false and that we will never make a deal that prevents us from doing business elsewhere.

Thami’s father made a reckless statement because all the supporters, sponsors and partners read the statement. People read that statement saying Thami must go play Sundowns someday. “

Masiya spent two seasons with Mbombela United in the National First Division (NFD) on loan from Sundowns, before moving to Swallows FC after being released by Masandawana in July 2019.

The 24-year-old moved to Baroka in January 2020 and has impressed with his breakneck speed and fascinating skills on the Limpopo side.

“We are competing with that team that they say should go play for. I don’t like a situation where Thami makes a mistake and everyone starts saying, ‘Yeah, it’s because he wants to go to Sundowns,’ “Mphahlele added.

“It is a dangerous statement that we want to refute. We don’t need that statement. The boy is currently in shape. He’s playing every game and we don’t want that distraction, ”added Mphahlele.

Thamsanqa, who uses his mother’s last name, Masiya, has made five league appearances for Baroka this season.
