Competence: League Two
Market: Mansfield wins
Odd: 1/1 @ 888sport
Looking to make an immediate return to the winning track Sunday afternoon, Mansfield will make the trip to a struggling Colchester this weekend.
Starting with the hosts, making another toothless display at Leyton Orient last weekend, Colchester has only carried on in an extended period of concern. Freefalling through the League Two table and starting to look over their shoulders towards the drop zone, the Essex-based team have notably failed to record a single win since December 8. Settling for a slow 0-0 stalemate in the capital last time out, the U have also built a real reputation for their obvious problems in the final third. Once again, going blank against Leyton Orient last weekend, Colchester hasn’t landed a single strike in his last four straight appearances at the top. Also without a home win since early December, the U should face another ordeal on Sunday.
As for the visitors, while Mansfield may have come from behind to clinch a point at Walsall midweek, the Stags would have been disappointed not to have left with more to show. However, after nearly managing to maintain their League Two status last season, the Nottinghamshire side have made a number of improvements this year. Sitting a surprising distance from breaking into the top half of the table, Nigel Clough’s team has been undefeated in third-tier duty since mid-December. Even more impressive, racking up a staggering 16 points from just his previous six League Two matchups, Burton’s former boss has also seen his team continue to shine on his travels. Unbeaten in their last four appearances away from One Call Stadium and winning three of those contests, we endorse a similar result this weekend.
Bet: Mansfield 1/1 to beat Colchester in Sunday’s League Two match @ 888 sport
