Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt is approaching a surprise loan to Croatia, according to the PA news agency.
Levitt began the season with Charlton, agreeing to a one-season loan. Nevertheless, United activated his dismissal clause last month after he only made five appearances for the League One team.
The midfielder He has played twice for Neil Wood’s Under-23s since returning to Manchester. As such, that experience has now led him to seek a new challenge abroad.
While the transfer in much of Europe was closed in early February, the Croatian market remains open until Monday.
So Levitt has taken a “surprise” opportunity to find more playing time.
United have been in talks with First Division Istra 1961 on a loan deal. Levitt hopes his playing time will help him earn a spot in this summer’s rescheduled European Championship.
Levitt, 20, made his debut for United in last season’s Europa League clash with Astana. However, that remains his only action with the first team to date.
