Manchester United have ‘cooled’ their interest in signing Jadon Sancho and have designated Erling Haaland as their new top target, according to a report.
The Red Devils spent most of the previous transfer window chasing England winger Sancho. However, Borussia Dortmund’s £ 108 million valuation ultimately turned out to be too high a price.
In fact, United bosses felt that spending that money in today’s financial climate sent the wrong message.
There has been continued talk of a possible renewal of interest in Old Trafford’s Sancho next summer. According to the Sunday MirrorHowever, those plans have gone cold.
The newspaper notes that the manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he had previously believed that Sancho could be the player to help his team become serious contenders for the Premier League title.
However, the source adds that such a title tilt is happening without Sancho; the Red Devils take the lead with Liverpool and have a game in hand over their archrivals.
What’s more, they have yet to play Jurgen Klopp, and the clubs will meet at the end of January.
As such, United bosses believe they have ‘dodged a bullet’ by avoiding paying the £ 108 million fee. They are also ‘debating’ if they will return for Sancho next summer.
But their general feeling is that they feel “more convinced than ever” that they should stay away.
In fact, the signature of Amad Diallo it has made United feel “justified”. The Atalanta winger signed terms at Old Trafford in October but could move to Manchester this month.
However, the Serie A club they have allegedly requested that the 18-year-old stay in Italy until the end of the season.
Agreement with Haaland of the eye of Man Utd
However, instead of Sancho, Solskjaer has struggled to try again to sign fellow Norwegian Haalaand. United came close to achieving it when they played for RB Salzburg, but Dortmund captured their services last December.
Since then, the 20 year old He has scored 33 goals in 32 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, turned out to be United’s nemesis in their search for Haaland.
But Sunday Mirror He claims that Old Trafford bosses would be “in private” willing to deal with him again.
Haaland is currently injured with a hamstring problem.
