Manchester United have figured out how much it will cost to bring RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku to the Premier League this summer, though AC Milan may be able to beat them to the bottom.

Nkunku came through Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before winning up to their senior team in December 2015. He appeared 78 times for the French outfit, scoring 11 goals and four assists.

PSG sold the offensive midfielder in July 2019, when Leipzig paid € 13 million (£ 10.7 million) for his signature.

And the 24-year-old has excelled since moving to Germany. He scored seven goals and delivered 11 assists to his teammates last season, helping Leipzig to become number two in the Bundesliga.

Nkunku has been even better this period. His record stands at 30 goals and 19 assists from just 44 games so far. It includes a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League as well as home matches against Hertha Berlin and VfL Bochum.

It’s no surprise Manchester United keeps an eye on the French national team player in case he becomes available this summer.

Christopher Nkunku was able to connect with ten Hag

Reports suggest Nkunku may become one of the club’s first signatures under potential new manager Erik ten Hag.

However, they will have to fend off Milan to secure his signature. According to a recent report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sportthe star is one of Milan’s primary transfer targets this year.

However, the Red Devils still have a chance to capture Nkunku, and they have discovered how much it will cost to bring him to England.

German source Picture reveals that it will require a bid of £ 54 million for Leipzig to let the player leave.

By comparison, Bruno Fernande’s first cost £ 47m when he joined from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. However, the transfer had the potential to rise to £ 67.7m with additions.

And French midfielder Paul Pogba broke the world record in transfer fees when he signed for United on a £ 89m contract back in 2016.

Nkunku may end up being Pogba’s replacement at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old is likely to move on when his contract expires on June 30.

PSG and Juventus are among the clubs hoping to pick him up.
