A section of Manchester City fans on Twitter praised Ilkay Gundogan’s performance following the club’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last night.

The German has been in splendid form since mid-December and entered yesterday’s game with nine goals and one assist in his last 11 league games.

He continued the hot run by winning the penalty that gave the Cityzens the lead in the 23rd minute. Rodri almost managed to convert the penalty to Hugo Lloris.

Shortly after the break, Gundogan impressively connected with Raheem Sterling before launching a low shot that edged Lloris at the near post.

The 30-year-old doubled his goal count for the game in the 66th minute after an impressive long pass from goalkeeper Ederson.

Gundogan produced a fantastic first touch that faced Davinson Sánchez before beating Lloris, who had a disappointing outing between the posts.

The midfielder has now raised his goal tally to 11 goals for the league campaign along with three assists.

In Kevin de Bruyne’s injury absence, he has become the club’s main midfield orchestra.

He has scored doubles in back-to-back games against Liverpool and Spurs, putting the Cityzens in the driver’s seat for the title.

Gundogan was substituted in the 69th minute for possible injury and hopefully it’s just a minor setback.

Here are some reactions from Cityzens fans after Gundogan’s stellar display.
