Most French clubs are struggling financially right now due to Covid-19 and the collapse of a major television deal, but Lille is one of the teams that is suffering more than most.
They are a good team with some exciting young players, so it was only a matter of time before the bigger clubs felt an opportunity to grab some bargains, and it looks like Renato Sanches might be the first to go.
He’s come a long way from those troubled stints at Swansea and Bayern Munich and looks like a potentially top-notch midfielder again, so Liverpool fans were intrigued to see reports that the deal was already agreed to take him to Anfield:
Reports in Italy suggest it’s a done deal…?
Can you see this happening? ?

He would be an obvious replacement for Wijnaldum if he goes ahead, but there is no sign of that happening in January, so Sanches may not move to Liverpool until the summer.
It also turns out that he may not be the only Lille player to make that move in the next few windows. with more reports from France claiming Liverpool have contacted the French team about Dutch defender Sven Botman.
At this point it’s just a query, but there are suggestions that Lille have already lowered their asking price from € 50 million to € 30 million and Liverpool need to strengthen their defense amid an injury crisis, so both players are worth keeping an eye on in January to see how this plays out.
