The search for a solid central defender replacement for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez in Liverpool continues.

Jurgen Klopp has managed to work miracles to keep the Reds at the top of the Premier League table and competitive, despite the injury problems his team has had during the 2020/21 campaign.

The Reds were thought to be making a move in January for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar, however it appears the Serie A giants have discounted the Premier League champions in one move.

According to Calciomercato and cited by the Daily mirror, the Italians want a whopping 54 million pounds to let him out of the club.

At this point, and particularly given that there could be another breakout in English football due to the surge in coronavirus cases, further affecting the club’s finances, that kind of figure is out of reach.

While it is likely to be a blow to Klopp, sporting director Michael Edwards always seems to find the good results, and will surely have someone else in mind to sign before the end of January.
