A Liverpool midfield master has said his club must improve its performances to regain pole position in the Premier League once again.

The Reds drew 0-0 with Manchester United on Sunday night, which means that there are now four league games without victory.

They have also failed to score in their last three Premier League games.

The reigning champions are now 4th in the table and three points behind league leaders United.

Summer pick Thiago, who made his Anfield debut in the clash, says his new team must do better to regain pole position.

Talking to Liverpool Official Website after the game, he spoke candidly about the tie.

“Without winning, we are never satisfied,” he said. “We had an excellent first half, then the second half was 50-50.”

“We are happy in some way with our performance, how we did it in some moments of the game. But we have to do much better to be at the top of the league.

Thiago mentioned the team’s disappointment at not being able to miss out on the opportunities they created.

He continued: “We were intense, we were creating the opportunities that brought us closer to winning. When we didn’t realize it and we didn’t score the goals, we’re lowering our self-confidence a bit and that’s why the game changed a bit.

“In the end, it is football and in a few minutes of the game you are very excited and sometimes you are depressed, it is part of the game.”

However, despite this assessment, the Spanish international said Liverpool have the offensive prowess to pull them out of their slump.

“Look at the guys in front of us, not just the big three, let’s just say that.”

“We have Div [Origi], we have Shaq [Xherdan Shaqiri], we have taki [Takumi Minamino]. We have a lot of players who can score, people in midfield who can also score, people in defense can score.

“It is a matter of creating the opportunities that we are creating to be effective.”

Liverpool go again Thursday night when they take on the Burnley wrestlers.
