Liverpool has been linked to a play by Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.
The Austrian international will be a free agent at the end of this season and is now free to speak to potential new clubs about a summer transfer.
According to the Italian journalist Romeo agresti, the Premier League champions have now offered David Alaba a contract worth £ 9 million per season.
The Reds are competing with Spanish Real Madrid for the signature of the 28-year-old defender and it will be interesting to see if they can fend off the competition and secure his services in the summer.
David Alaba is a world class player who would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool squad and the transfer will be a huge blow if Liverpool can pull it off.
The Austrian can play as a defensive midfielder, left back and center back. Its versatility will be an additional advantage for the Premier League champions.
Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum will be a free agent in the summer and if the Dutchman decides to move on, David Alaba could be his ideal replacement at the club.
The contract that was offered to the Austrian international would put him in line with the top earning clubs and that would be quite appropriate given his reputation in the game.
David Alaba is an experienced player who has won almost every club-level trophy with Bayern Munich and would fit in well at a club like Liverpool.
Some of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to the latest events related to David Alaba and this is what they had to say.
That would put it in line with our highest income. Suitable for a player of his stature in the game. Undeniably world-class, in multiple positions. Ready-to-use Gini replacement as well as LB and CB cover.
I’d love for us to catch it. https://t.co/lbRZLCRN3C

Yes, but Bayern will never let him go in January to a CL challenger. But what signing would it be for next season …

Praise it would be a great robbery. Like a tremendous robbery. I’d be fine without him if we had another CB other than Alaba anyway. THAT is a movement of power.

If we insure Alaba, we will not buy a CB in this transfer window. It would be fine with that.

Amazing player, really versatile and a great replacement for Wijnaldum (he can play in midfield), but we need him NOW, not in the summer, this is not helping us at all at the moment.
