Liverpool could go ahead with the acquisition of Ozan Kabak from Schalke by signing one of his former teammates, according to a report.
Kabak He was Liverpool’s main signing in the January transfer window, arriving on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.
Liverpool He took advantage of Schalke’s need to raise funds in the summer by structuring a deal for the center-back, which in turn should help his own defensive concerns.
But Kabak is not the only Schalke player to have been on Liverpool’s radar. According to a report, they are also interested in a forward from the Bundesliga club.
The player in question is Matthew Hoppe, who is also wanted by Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham.
That is according to 90min, who suggests that Hoppe may be the next player Schalke has to sacrifice.
The forward just signed his first professional contract earlier this month. But he’s already showing his skill, scoring five goals in his first eight Bundesliga starts.
Now the best clubs in Europe are catching on to it. The 19-year-old has been scouted by Liverpool, United, City and Spurs.
Apparently there is also interest in Hoppe from Italy and Spain. However, it is not yet clear which clubs from those countries are in the running to sign him.
Schalke does not want to sell the American. But if they suffer from the Bundesliga relegation and their financial worries mount, they may not have a choice.
That could present an opportunity for interested Premier League teams to jump in.

Hoppe the next American prospect?
Several American players have made their way into the European game in recent years.
For example, Christian Pulisic made his way to Borussia Dortmund and then Chelsea.
Several other USA internationals hope to continue their way into the Premier League. Hoppe will be one of those who will keep his options open for the future.
His stance on a possible transfer is not yet clear. However, the interest of the four clubs mentioned would surely be tempting.
