Leicester City may be forced to sell Youri Tielemans to the highest bidder as Juventus connections have emerged, pointing to a potential deal.
Tielemans has been one of Leicester’s most important assets over the last few years. The Belgian has actually contributed to 46 goals in 141 games for the Foxes.
Leicester have finished fifth in the Premier League in both of the last two seasons. Tielemans was directly involved in 19 league goals across these two campaigns.
What’s more, he scored the winner of last season’s FA Cup final.
It is clear that the midfielder is a focal point in the success of the foxes, and big sides are starting to notice it. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are English teams with reported interest and Tielemans.
Interest has also been reported further afield. Il Bianconero reports that Juventus contacted the foxes this summer regarding the 24-year-old.
The report says Leicester rejected the approach. What’s more, they see the midfielder as a ‘non-transferable’ asset because of his main role in the side.
But with Brendan Rodgers’ side struggling lately, they could be forced to sell to the ‘highest bidder’. Given his top performance at Leicester, he may now be a big fish in a small pond.
Tielemans may no longer be Juve’s top scorer, although they are likely to keep a close eye on him.
Any development will also arouse the interest of the English sides, who are allegedly keeping an eye on the Belgian.
Tielemans and Schmeichel among top stars in Leicester
Tielemans is one of a cohort of big names in Leicester. James Maddison made a big claim about another Leicester teammate last week.
The midfielder’s praise came after the foxes’ 3-1 victory against Randers in the Europa Conference League.
“He is [Kasper Schmeichel] a top goalkeeper, I think he is in the top three in the Premier League, ”he said.
Schmeichel has, like Tielemans, proved to be a faithful one for Leicester with 461 appearances and counting.
