As for Leeds’ transfer activity last summer, it was Rodrigo De Paul.
The Argentine was linked with a change to Elland Road on a regular basis and it seemed at one point that the player wanted the move himself.
Paul is still a player that United and Victor Orta to admire but it is unlikely to end up in Yorkshire at the end of the January transfer window.
Similarly, Norwich City dynamo Emi Buendia is also unlikely to leave the Canaries for Leeds. Daniel Farke wants to keep him at the club, but like De Paul, he was someone they made a investigation for in the summer.
Who would you prefer in Leeds?
If Leeds are still trying to choose between the two, then their form this season dictates that Buendía may be the only option.
Nicknamed A “revelation” from Chris Sutton, the attacking midfielder has been a hypnotic influence for the Canaries in the Championship.
He has scored Seven goals and contributed seven assists for Farke’s men, producing performances that defy belief. The diminutive midfielder saved one of his biggest shows for Barnsley last weekend.
Buendía touched the ball on so many occasions that he lost possession a remarkable 28 times, but found the back of the net and completed six drips in the process. On top of that, Buendía won a whopping 12 games in a show of action that left Barnsley’s defenders spinning.
De Paul is a fairly consistent player, but he rarely replicated the 24-year-old’s stats. Has scored only Three goals, but he is still a dazzling with the ball at his feet, performing 3.3 dribble a match.
That said, the Norwich striker is already well versed in English football and would surely represent a cheaper and safer alternative.
Orta has to at least test the waters with an offer this year.
