According to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Graham Smyth, Leeds United is expected to confirm Ryan Edmondson’s departure to Northampton Town shortly.

The youngster is expected to land a loan to the League One club this week.

The 19-year-old forward was linked to a signing League Two Bradford City to join fellow Leeds players Jordan Stevens and Bryce Hosannah. However, it appears that he will be joining The Cobblers.

Edmondson is a highly skilled young talent who needs regular games to advance to the next level. Smyth believes that the loan to Northampton would be ideal for its development.

Edmondson spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish club Aberdeen.

He made just three starts, scoring twice for them, and his loan period was cut short. However, he is expected to play regularly for the League One club.

Leeds is highly unlikely to enter the transfer market as Marcelo Bielsa feels he does not need to make additions to his squad this month.

A central defender would have been ideal, with Leeds set to be without Robin Koch for the next two months at least.

Leeds will mainly focus on sending young players on loan this month, and they may even try to get a young player or two as well.

Exciting young talent Sean McGurk has been linked to a move to Elland Road, but Rangers and Celtic are also interested in him.
