Lacazette warned of the Arsenal legend of a costly trait that he is doing ‘too much’ too much

Alexandre Lacazette will be more effective for Arsenal if he avoids falling deep, he has been advised by a former Gunners great.

Arsenal beat the Wolves under dramatic circumstances – not the first time in February – Thursday evening. They came back in the 10th minute for a Hwang Hee-Chan goal. However, Nicolas Pepe equalized eight minutes before time before a Jose Sa own goal won it for Arsenal in stoppage time.

The winner came as a result of a Lacazette shot – but the striker was still told after the match how to adapt to become a bigger influence.

According to Ian Wright, if Lacazette gets higher up the pitch, Arsenal will be a more complete team.

Wright told Premier League Productions (via Subway): “Ben White and Gabriel [Magalhaes]the collaboration is starting to work very well, e.g. [Thomas] Party and [Granit] Xhaka.

“We just need a little more going forward. [Martin] For me, Odegaard is the glue for everything.

“We need more goals. We definitely need more goals.

“I would love to see more goals from someone like Lacazette. I sometimes think he gets too deep. We need a focal point because we have players who can run from him.

“I want him to stay up there a little more. We know he needs to link, but stay there a little more; give us someone to beat.”

Lacazette has only scored three goals from 19 Premier League matches so far this season. It could prove to be his last in an Arsenal jersey as his contract expires this summer.

The club has reportedly put the contract negotiations with their new captain on hold until the end of the season. But manager Mikel Arteta felt that Lacazette’s performance against Wolves was one of those that wants to stay.

While speaking on the pitch, the Frenchman may still need to fine-tune his game. Even at the age of 30, a football player should never stop learning.

Young people in the Premier League must make a name for themselves: Garner, Palmer, Gordon …

Ince weights Lacazette and Odegaard

Former Manchester United player Paul Ince agreed with Wright’s assessment for Lacazette. However, he did not necessarily see the same way with Odegaard.

Ince added: “I think when you run past your own midfielders, there is something that is not quite right.

“We have seen [Cristiano] Ronaldo at United, if he does not get the ball, he gets deeper and deeper because he wants to be involved in the game, but by doing so once you have possession, there is nothing at the top.

“With Odegaard, I thought he was okay today. I did not think he was amazing. But you have to get the ball up on your feet.

“It’s him who gets things started, it’s him who gets the attackers going, and if he does not, it cancels Arsenal as an attacking force.

“But defensively, I think they are amazing. They are much better than they were before. They look solid.”

Arsenal are number five in the Premier League after their most recent victory. They are one point behind Man Utd, over which they have two games in hand.
