Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants a £ 40 million fix for a troubled position at Anfield, while West Ham is closing in on a new defender, all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

KLOPP WANTS NUNO MENDES

Liverpool Chief Jurgen Klopp has asked his superiors to disburse Nuno Mendes’ 45 million euro release clause (£ 40 million) and bring the left-back to Anfield, according to a report.

The 18-year-old has become a vital part of the Sporting team, despite his tender years.

In fact, he only made his Liga NOS debut towards the end of last season, but has appeared in every league game for his team this season.

Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool and Leicester are interested in bringing the left-back to the Premier League.

According to Don balonHowever, Klopp has made his interest in the player personal by asking his superiors to pay for Mendes’ release clause.

Klopp He reportedly believes Mendes would be a “tremendous” addition on the left flank. As such, the Reds will reportedly “try to get ahead” of the other teams in the race.

In fact, while Leicester are reportedly a “great actor”, Real Madrid scouts have sent glowing reports about the player.

Previous speculations have suggested that Diogo Jota could be vital in a potential transfer. Jota, who is a compatriot of Portuguese star Mendes, has made an impressive impact since joining Wolves in September.

However, Klopp’s request for Mendes comes as he loses faith in another of his recent signings. Left side Kostas tsimikas He came as a substitute for Andy Robertson from Olympiacos in August but has struggled with injury.

As such, Don balon claims the Greece international has not earned Klopp’s trust so far.

Tsimikas suffered a thigh injury in September and has only played 159 minutes of soccer this season, a statistic the source relays as the reason for Klopp’s mistrust.

However, the 24-year-old is likely to play next Wednesday when Liverpool play Midtjylland in a dead Champions League rubber competition.
