Klopp falls short of the promising Van Dijk update; warns of injury ‘facts’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Virgil van Dijk’s continued recovery from his knee injury looks “very good” but has warned of his long absence.

The defender has not played since mid-October after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. As such, he underwent surgery and there is no deadline for his return.

In fact, he’s likely to miss most of the rest of the season at least.

However, The dutch has posted regular updates on social media documenting his rehabilitation. His latest post showed him working out on a stationary bike, while he has also been lifting weights to increase resistance in his knee.

Talking to livepoolfc.com, Klopp offered his latest update on Van Dijk’s progress. While he expressed hope about the progress of his star player, he warned that the center-back is far from coming back.

“Good very good. I have no problem talking about Virgil van Dijk.” manager he said when asked about his progress.

“It’s very good, but there is still a long way to go, that’s this type of injury.

“I’m glad when I watch these videos, to be honest, because it just shows that he is making good progress. But it will still take a long time, that’s right.

“I would like to say something else, but these are the facts, unfortunately.”

Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf He recently joined Van Dijk in his rehab and relayed similar positive news.

Seedorf wrote in Instagram: “I joined Captain Virgil van Dijk to train today.

“Happy to see your determination and hard work to return to the field stronger than before!

“In these types of trips, patience and concentration are keys to success. Keep it up, my brother! “

Klopp urged to avoid ‘disaster’ scenario

Injuries to Van Dijk and his central teammates Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have left Klopp with no options at the rear.
