The 21-year-old has sealed a permanent switch away from The Foxes, returning to Belgium
Premier League club Leicester City have announced the transfer of Ghanaian winger Kamal Sowah to Belgian outfit Club Brugge.
The 21-year-old joins the blue-black on a four-year contract, marking a return to First Division A.
He came to Leicester in 2018 and has spent the last three and a half years on loan at the Belgian fold OH Leuven.
“Leicester City Football Club can confirm that midfielder Kamal Sowah has joined Belgian club Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance,” Leicester have announced on their official website.
“During his time at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium, he played 72 games in all competitions and scored 13 goals, helping the OHL sell promotion to the highest level of Belgian football – the Jupiler Pro League – in 2019-20.
“He leaves with the best wishes from everyone at Leicester City Football Club.”
In Leuven, Sowah made a total of 72 appearances in all competitions, netting 13 times and helping the outfit secure promotion to the Belgian elite division.
In the course of securing a place in First Division A, the striker made 27 league appearances, starting in 21 of the matches and scoring three goals as Leuven won First Division B.
Last period in the top tier, the winger got 34 league games for the club, starting in all the games and finding the back of the net eight times.
His fine form led him to join Leicester for training ahead of the new season, where he made his club debut in a friendly with Burton Albion.
“I feel good, especially when I return to Leicester. It has been a long time for me to return here to get minutes with the first team, “said the winger after his debut.
“I think the quality is really high. Everyone is fighting for this opportunity to get on the team. Everyone wants [impress] the leader so you need to be able to show what you have.
“I have worked so hard to be able to show everyone because it has been a long time since I have been in Leicester. So everyone looks to know where I have been and what I have, so I try my best on the training ground . ”
Sowah has received a call to Ghana but has yet to join the Ghana national team.
