Andrea Pirlo has been encouraged by the attitude of his Juventus players since his return to training after a humiliation at home at the hands of Fiorentina brought a terrible end to 2020.
Rookie coach Pirlo had been undefeated in Serie A heading into last year’s final match, and only Juve and leader Milan were still not savoring defeat in Europe’s top five leagues at the time.
But the Bianconeri lost that record after falling 3-0 in Turin following Juan Cuadrado’s early red card, only their second league loss at home to Fiorentina in 30 years.
A brief mid-season break gave the defending champions sixth time to enjoy that painful result, which followed a 1-1 draw with Atalanta in their previous home game.
However, since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, Juve have not gone three home games without winning, and Pirlo’s men are determined to bounce back when they host Udinese on Sunday.
“I found the players well after a vacation period,” Pirlo told Juventus TV. “On Monday I found a team really wanting to restart after the last bad performance.
“We have almost all the players back, so now we are looking for a good recovery in the league.
