Tottenham have re-linked with Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.
Yesterday we covered a report from Corriere Dello Sport claiming that José Mourinho has urged the club’s hierarchy to sign the player.
Spanish publication Sport He has now posted a story update stating that the player is open to a Premier League play if Madrid cannot provide him with a chance to play for the regular first team.
The 22-year-old has only started two games for Madrid this season in all competitions.
Militao came to Madrid for € 50 million in 2019 and there were high expectations for his future at the club.
However, he has failed to earn the trust of his coach Zinedine Zidane and needs a loan away from the Spanish club to regain his sharpness and rebuild his confidence with regular football.
Tottenham have used Eric Dier as Toby Alderweireld’s partner this season, but the England international is not a specialist center-back. The fall of Davinson Sánchez has forced Mourinho to use the defensive midfielder on his rear four.
Militao would solve that problem for the Spurs boss and add more defensive depth to his side. It will be interesting to see what Madrid decides in the coming weeks.
Tottenham have already signed Gareth Bale from Madrid on loan this season and it remains to be seen if they can bring in a second signing from the Spanish team this month.
