Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is looking to improve his back room by adding Manchester United’s Chris Armas to the team, according to reports.

Armas came to Man United with interim manager Ralf Rangnick and has apparently impressed the American coach during his short stint. When Rangnick made room for Erik Ten Hag at the end of the campaign, it’s likely Man Utd will make changes to their own backroom staff. However, it seems that Armas is now facing an alternative option to keep a job in the Premier League.

Reported by AthleticsMarsch is keen for the Manchester United figure to join his team in the 2022/23 season.

When Marsch took over from Marcelo Bielsa in February, he recruited internally to staff.

Loan manager Andrew Taylor and U-23 head coach Mark Jackson were assigned first-team coaching roles. However, the report says Jackson is expected to return to his U23 role, opening up a spot.

While Marsch has enjoyed working with Jackson, he is believed to be Leeds are eager to revitalize their youth team.

This has then turned the former RB Leipzig boss’s attention towards Armas.

Armas, who is currently assistant to Rangnick at Old Trafford, has had some difficult months, with his side facing a lot of criticism.

However, an opportunity to work with Marsch again could prove to be a smart career move.

The story of Jesse Marsch and Chris Arma

Marsch and Armas were longtime teammates in MLS. The pair played together for the Chicago Fire between 1998-2005.

Armas continued to be the assistant coach at the club when he retired in 2008. However, Marsch did not start managing until 2011 with the Montreal Impact.

The duo were then reunited in 2015, with Armas becoming assistant manager for March at the New York Red Bulls.

After three successful years, Armas replaced Marsch as head coach, with the latter moving on to Red Bull Salzburg.

Given their history and experience together, it would make sense for Armas to join his former teammate at Leeds.

And with Ten Hag expected to make major changes on its arrival, it’s likely that Armas will be free to attend in time for the pre-season.
