Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Devine has praised young Alfie Devine after his FA Cup debut.
Devine became the youngest player of all time (at just 16 years and 163 days old) to represent the Spurs senior team when he entered the second half during Tottenham’s 5-0 FA Cup win. at Marine on Sunday.
The record was previously held by Devine’s academy teammate Dane Scarlett, who participated in the Europa League a couple of months ago.
Tanganga, who also entered the second half for Spurs, has suggested that Devine has impressed everyone at the club. He has praised the young man as a “really good player”, and feels there is more to come from him.
“He has trained with us a few times and every time he climbs he seemed like a real spark. He’s doing fine ” Tanganga told Football London.
“When he came [with me at half-time]I just said, ‘Keep it simple, do what you’ve been doing in training, there’s a reason you’ve been training.’
“Today you saw flashes of his skill, a truly professional performance. I am very happy that he scored his first professional goal. He is a really good player and there is also more to come.
Devine created another record for the Spurs on Sunday night. He also became the club’s youngest goalscorer when he scored home with a forehand shot.
José Mourinho has also praised the youngster saying he has great potential.
Devine was hired from Wigan over the summer and appears to be making rapid progress at Spurs.
In fact, it’s a great time for the youngster, and everyone at Spurs hopes he can play more competitive games in the future.
