Michael Ballack has no doubt that Bayern Munich will face Lazio professionally when their Champions League campaign resumes this week.
European champions Bayern are aiming to take the next step towards consecutive continental crowns when they travel to Rome for the first leg of a round of 16 tie on Tuesday.
Hansi Flick’s men have been in poor shape since returning from winning the Club World Cup in Qatar, falling to a 2-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt after a 3-3 draw at home to Arminia Bielefeld, fighter of the Bundesliga.
However, Ballack feels that concentration will sharpen once again when Bayern take on Simone Inzaghi’s team, who are ranked fifth in Serie A.
“The newspapers make it clear who the favorites are to win this match. But that sometimes makes it dangerous, ”Ballack told Stats Perform News.

“Although it must be said that with Bayern Munich, their focus, structure and mentality will make it impossible to underestimate their rival.
“These will be two games in which I think they can happen. The union is clear and its shape is improving again.
“That’s why I think Bayern will go to the next round.”
Experience could prove crucial, with Bayern in the knockout rounds for the thirteenth consecutive season.
In 12 of the previous 14 seasons, he has reached at least the quarterfinals.
