The final game of the 2020 Indian Super League was quite important as a young Hyderabad FC took on a rather disappointing FC Goa. The two teams were 8th and 6th in the table respectively before this match, and both were looking to improve their recent form. The Nizams saw their undefeated start end two games ago and couldn’t bounce back last time out, while the Gaurs had lost two of their last three meetings.
A very intriguing battle was expected, and this is what we did with it:
The first half was not the most exciting, as neither team was able to create real scoring chances until the 43rd minute, when Brandon Fernandes hung a cross to Igor Angulo, whose header barely went above the top corner.
Hyderabad FC’s first opportunity came in the 50th minute when Akash Mishra danced down the left wing and launched a flight from the edge of the area, but cut the ball with his right foot and his effort was deflected. Four minutes later, Halicharan Narzary slipped João Victor down the right, but the Brazilian midfielder was unable to beat Mohammad Nawaz with his effort.
Nizam finally broke the tie in the 58th minute, when Ashish Rai hung a cross to Aridane, who managed to put enough power into his header to beat the keeper despite having to take a couple of steps back to receive the ball.

Four minutes later, the Spanish striker nearly doubled his lead when he let a powerful shot fly from range, forcing Mohammad Nawaz to tip him over the top crossbar.
Goa finally tied the game in the 87th minute when Ishan Pandita launched Edu Bedia’s free kick into the upper corner of the net with his first touch after coming in as a substitute.
Just what we wanted Ishaan Pandita on the sheet 🔥🔥🔥🔥 🧡🧡🧡🧡 🔥🔥🔥🔥 #ForcaGoa

Three minutes later, Mohammed Yasir cut inside from the right and fired from the edge of the area, but went over the crossbar.
However, it was FC Goa who again pocketed the winning goal in injury time through Igor Angulo, who stormed down the left, stopped the defender and beat the goalkeeper with his shot low to the far post.
FERGIE TIME PLEASE !!!!!

That turned out to be Hyderabad’s last chance to save a point, so it was Goa who took the 2-1 victory.
Key talking point
Another unrewarded performance
After back-to-back defeats that marked the end of their undefeated start, Hyderabad FC faced a real test tonight, not only in terms of quality but also in terms of character.
What they wanted was pretty clear in the first half, when he had to settle for less possession and did it in a determined defensive way. The Nizams pressed consistently, denying FC Goa any moment on the ball in their own half, and in doing so, preventing them from building substantial attacks. They made it clear that they were much happier not to lose this match rather than doing their best to win.
They grew up in the match in the second period, creating several opportunities early on and ultimately capitalizing on through Aridane’s powerful header. However, the test was not completed there, as they then had to maintain leadership. Unfortunately, they failed that test, and it was a belated piece that turned out to be their downfall once again. Then the Nizams conceded once more when their defense went out of shape.
