Goal machine Robert Lewandowski broke another record, or better yet, records in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski broke a hat-trick when Bayern Munich defeated Hertha Berlin 5-0 on Saturday night. It seemed that Bayern needed time to adjust to Julian Nagelsmann. But with a guaranteed performance on the night, they aim to defend their Bundesliga crown.

Lewandowski has been in sensational form for the club and the country since 2019. He may have turned 33 recently, but there are no signs of slowing down. In an ominous way for his opponents, he’s only getting better. He scored a triple century of goals for Bayern Munich in just 333 appearances. Lewy averages one goal per game for the Bavarians and also dished out 65 assists during his spell.

Lewandowski picked up where he left off this season. “Lewan goal-ski” started the season as he aims to pass with five goals in three games. Gerd Muller, who recently passed away, held the records for the most goals in a single season and the most goals scored in a row. Having snatched Muller’s scoring record in a season, Lewandowski is looking at his consecutive scoring record.
SILVER AND DISCS
Lewandowski is one of the most clinical finishers the world has ever seen. Currently, he is one of the best, if not the best, striker in the world. He has all kinds of goals in his arsenal and knows when to use each one. From simple taps to scoring long rangers, you can do it all. His positional intelligence and movement annoy defenders throughout the game. With his immense physique, he can intimidate defenders in the air and score headshots for fun. It has exploded in the last two years with Hansi Flick.
The year 2020 saw Bayern sweep Europe. A resounding victory in the Bundesliga title was complemented by another success in the DFB Pokal. Lewandowski’s goals won them games and trophies. They only needed to win the Champions League title to complete a historic treble.
Lewandowksi scored in the semi-finals to take them to the final of the Champions League mini-tournament held in Portugal in 2020. Bayern beat Paris Saint Germain in the final to complete the treble. They even went on to win the six-fold later through goals from Lewandowski. Lewandowski was the number one favorite for the Ballon d’Or had he not been eliminated due to the pandemic.
If 2020 was the year of silver for him, 2021 is the year of personal records. He smashed many of the league’s defenses with the help of his teammates. Lewandowski matched Gerd Muller for most goals in a single season with 40 goals in the final matchday. He practically scored with the last kick of the season to break Muller’s record with 41 goals to his name. He was presented with a special keepsake in honor of his feat.
THREE HUNDRED AND COUNTING
Lewandowksi scored in 10 straight games for Bayern in the previous season. After firing Poland by knockouts at the Euro, he returned to the Allianz Arena wanting more goals. Unsurprisingly, he scored in Bayern’s first game against Gladbach. He added one more to his account against Koln and was on a twelve-game streak. He entered the game against Hertha with 298 goals and with an eye on history.

He headed home from close range to double Bayern’s lead. He took his scoring streak to 13, which is his personal best and is now only behind Muller’s record in the league. In the second half, he took advantage of an empty net to score the historic 300th goal of his career at Bayern. He is only the fifth player in the modern era to score more than 300 goals for a single club. He has the caliber to score many more goals this season.
Still hungry for goals, he headed a cross from Tanguy Nianzou to finish off his first hat-trick of the season. In fact, it was his fifteenth with Bayern Munich. Humble Lewy said, “I’m not thinking about records. I’m just concentrating on my tasks before each game. When the team plays well, I benefit. I’m always happy to help the team, ”in a post-match conference. He may not say it openly, but this time he is a firm contender for the Ballon d’Or.
13 – Robert Lewandowski has scored in each of his last 13 Bundesliga games, setting a new personal best. Only Gerd Müller scored in more consecutive games in Germany’s top flight. To run. #FCBBSC pic.twitter.com/seJYpDeZYq

The Polish international is reportedly on the hunt for a new challenge this summer. But his scoring streak and his dedication to the team say otherwise. He always plays like a man with a point to prove and it is hard to imagine him leaving the club where he enjoys so much and wins so many trophies.
FORGED BY THE BEST
If it was not for some volcanic eruption, we would not have seen this version of Lewandowski. Lewandowski shone in the Polish league from a young age for Lech Poznan and caught the attention of many of the best scouts. The Premier League Blackburn Rovers led by Sam Allardyce convinced Lewy to join them. An ash cloud from a volcanic eruption prevented air travel in Europe and he was trapped in Poland. At this point other moves were made and Lewandowski joined the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund led by the charismatic Jurgen Klopp.
Considered one of the best coaches and managers, Klopp worked with Lewy for four years in the Rhine Valley. Klopp made Lewandowski a perfect striker and used his strengths to topple Bayern Munich. Led by Lewandowksi, Dortmund won back-to-back league titles in 2011 and 2012. The German coach appreciates coaching Lewandowski to date and also named him the best player to ever coach.
He would have expected a better end to their relationship in Dortmund. In 2013, Lewy made it clear that he would not sign a contract extension with the club and wanted a transfer. Later, Klopp revealed that he could not say no to the pull of Pep Guardiola and Bayern Munich. He eventually moved to Bayern in 2014. If Klopp built a monster, Guardiola, known as the smartest coach of all time, unleashed it.
Lewandowski was a force of nature in the Allianz Arena and there was no escape from him. He scored in almost every game as Bayern won title after title. In 2015, Lewandowski surprised everyone in the world.

– ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) August 21, 2020
Bayern trailed 1-0 to Wolfsburg and manager Pep Guardiola launched Lewandowski at halftime in hopes of turning the game around. When the time came, Lewandowski broke the barriers of sanity by scoring five goals in nine minutes. His coach, Pep Guardiola, could not even perceive what was happening on the pitch and his reaction is still precious.
Thus, trained by the best minds in world football, Lewandowski became the best of the best forwards of this generation.
