Atletico Madrid confirmed that Antoine Griezmann has been given permission by the health authorities to return to training.
Griezmann was among five who tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 30 along with coach Diego Simeone, Koke, Hector Herrera and Joao Felix.
Everyone went into immediate isolation, with only Simeone able to quarantine in time for Sunday’s 2-0 LaLiga win over Rayo Vallecano.
But Griezmann has been approved to also return to the training ground after his latest test came back negative, making his a case of “loose infection”.

A statement from Atletico read: “Antoine Griezmann has received permission from LaLiga to return to training.
“The French player represents a case of loose infection that meets the conditions set out in the strategy for early detection, monitoring and control of COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health, dated 19 December 2021.”
As such, Griezmann could potentially play against Rayo Majadahonda in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.
Otherwise, he hopes to get involved away from home to Villarreal on Sunday.
