Seahawks sign Quandre Diggs to big money deal, Twitter responds
The Chicago Bears take a home run by picking Larry Ogunjobi away from the Cincinnati Bengals in his free agency.
Larry Ogunjobi got the most out of his one year with the Cincinnati Bengals when the defensive lineman was able to turn a race for Super Bowl 56 into a multi-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reported that it will be a three-year deal for Ogunjobi worth $ 40.5 million. $ 26.35 million of this number is fully guaranteed.
Ogunjobi spent his first four NFL seasons outside of Charlotte with the Cleveland Browns. Although he was a good player for them, he comes after his best season as a professional with the Bengals in 2021. The defensive tackle noted a career-high seven sacks for the defending AFC Champions.
Larry Ogunjobi leaves Bengals for Bears: Signing grade
If Ogunjobi is heading into his prime right now, then this is a good deal for the Bears. They paid a premium for him, despite having problems with the ceiling themselves. No, this does not compensate for swapping Khalil Mack away for the Los Angeles Chargers. The good news is that Ogunjobi helped turn the Bengals around, as many thought they were rebuilding. Could the 2022 bears be the Bengals from 2021?
No, not even closed. While Matt Eberflus gets a proven player in the trenches in his first round as head coach, it really feels like the Bears are paying too much money for a good player and not a great player. So again, this is not what the NFL free agency is all about, is it? Although Ogunjobi could become the Pro Bowler in Chicago, he will be measured on what he did with the Bengals last year.
Good for him to get the bag, but this is one of the moves that makes the bears… the bears.
