José Mourinho has confirmed that Gareth Bale could play for Tottenham Hotspur in their FA Cup third round match at Marine on Sunday.
The non-league team have played seven games to reach this stage of the competition and could be rewarded by taking on one of soccer’s biggest stars.
Spurs have already reached the Carabao Cup final this season and will be eager to make similar progress in the FA Cup.
Bale has struggled to stay in shape since returning to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid, but has indicated that he wants to participate this weekend.
“He trained today for the first time with us and tomorrow for the second time,” said Mourinho. “Tomorrow after training we will make a decision.
“It’s also a way of showing you how we look, the respect we have for this game, is that Gareth told me that he would like to go and that he would like to play.
“So if tomorrow the feelings are positive, Gareth will come.”
