When you evaluate Aston Villa’s season, it’s hard to find a huge hole in their team.

As a result, spending in the January transfer window could be a fairly limited affair for Dean Smith and Johan Lange.

Which is the word?

He has been quiet on the transfer front for the Villans since the window was opened. Rico Henry has continually been linked, but at last, we have an inbound potential to report.

It won’t be a great addition, but it will be one that will provide more competition and inject more youthful exuberance into the first team image.

That is because according to Lazio Siamo Noi (via Sport Witness) Aston Villa is looking to sign Norwegian star Sivert Mannsverk.

The 18-year-old has turned heads in his homeland and is set to be available for a mere 2 million euros (£ 1.7 million), but it won’t be an easy chase.

Where should Aston Villa spend in January?

Arsenal are reported to be in the running for Mannsverk’s signing, while Brighton also has an interest in the talented midfielder.

Bologna and Ajax are interested, but it is Lazio who has already contacted to sign him. She has many willing suitors due to her “personality, talent, and good physique.”

Forget Ramsey

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Villa’s season so far has been the appearance of Jacob Ramsey. The 19-year-old made his first Premier League start against Wolves last month and looked immensely comfortable, completing two Dribble and record of two shots.

It was a dynamic performance that characterized Ramsey, but his progress to first-team stardom could be halted if Mannsverk is signed.

The teenager is already the captain of his club and has excellent leadership skills, producing goals and assists in impressive numbers for his age.

During 2020, five goals and also provided five assists to his teammates. Able to play as a defensive midfielder or later in the attacking phases, he is a versatile individual and that should come in handy if he moves to England.

He could also be sure that Smith would use it. This Villa squad is already particularly young, and the hierarchy prioritizes bringing players to the club that they can develop, rather than individuals who have been through their prime.

It’s a chore to break into this Villa midfield, but Mannsverk has a bright future ahead of him. However, it remains to be seen if its ceiling is higher than Ramsey’s.
