Fiorentina have reportedly made the contract of Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira their top priority in 2022, although they may be trying their luck with the offer price.

Tea Gunners the star has struggled to make an impact in north London since his switch from Sampdoria, making just 89 appearances in all tournaments and scoring four goals. He spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, although things did not go quite according to plan in Spain. In fact, the player demanded a return to South America during his time there.

But when this step did not succeed, Torreira was once again sent on loan – with Florence its new destination.

And after a successful first half of the campaign in Italy, states that the player has become hugely important to La Viola.

The report adds that Torreira is crucial to Fiorentina’s way of playing and is wanted in addition to his loan.

The Serie A side currently have a € 15 million purchase option on the 25-year-old. And they want an agreement reached as a ‘priority’ in the coming months.

The report also adds that there is a possibility that Fiorentina may try to bring the price down. However, there is nothing to suggest that Arsenal would agree to that tactic.

Torreira has played 11 Serie A matches for a Fiorentina team that is currently sixth in the table.

Tottenham go after Arsenal goal

Meanwhile, Tottenham will aim to take a page out of Arsenal’s book following their transfer strategy, which would see a striker at £ 70m when one of five potential new signatures was revealed, according to a report.

Arsenal sprayed around £ 140 million over the summer on six new contracts. Each of the six was under 24 at the time. The majority of these new faces are already making an immediate impact under Mikel Arteta.

Now, according to the Sun., Tottenham aim to give Antonio Conte a similar set of results in the market.

They claim that Spurs have ‘identified’ five rising stars across Europe, who ‘have all been spotted with potential moves’. Following Arsenal’s lead, each of the quintet is aged 25 or under, though all would be more than capable of going straight into Conte’s first eleven.

The headline-grabbing name on the list is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic.

Spurs’ connections with the Serbian assassin are nothing new. Vlahovic was hailed as Harry Kane’s successor when he was linked with Manchester City over the summer.

Despite this step being broken, reports of connecting Vlahovic to Tottenham continue and he looks set to move on to the summer after reject Fiorentina’s latest contract offer.

His 14 goals in 16 games this season have proven that his breakthrough season last year was not a fluke. Nevertheless, he would demand a huge fee of £ 70 million and is also on the radars of Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United.
