According to The country, FIFA has granted Atlético de Madrid permission to use the prohibited Kieran Trippier while investigations into the FA ruling continue.
As reported by the Daily mail, Trippier was fined £ 70,000 and suspended from football for 10 weeks following an investigation into unusual bets related to his transfer from Tottenham to Atlético de Madrid.
That was bad news for Atlético, of course, with Tripper subsequently ruled out for much of the remainder of the current season. With Atlético at the top of La Liga, they could do without setbacks of this nature.
However, it seems that, for now at least, Tripper will be available. El País reports that FIFA agreed to allow Trippier to participate in Atlético while the nature of his wrongdoing and whether the FA’s ban was justified are investigated.
That’s good news for Simeone, but not so positive for the FA, which has been blatantly undermined by soccer’s governing body in this case.
