Alex Scott has delivered a damning verdict on Arsenal’s performances in the Premier League this season.
Talking to Sky sports Following the Gunners’ 1-0 home loss to Manchester City on Sunday, Scott questioned the lack of progress the club has made with coach Mikel Arteta.
“This Arsenal team is not consistent in their game,” Scott said. “Today you are looking at (Martin) Odegaard, it was very normal.
“So you question the decision that (Emile) Smith Rowe wasn’t selected before him. I think we will see Odegaard’s true qualities in the coming weeks.
“Is he good enough to be in this Arsenal starting XI or will this loan period be short?
“We want to see some signs of progress. We can sit here and keep saying that it is a transitional season and we are looking forward to seeing positive things.
“But we really need that to materialize now, it should be a regular thing, not a constant up and down. We need to see signs of more positivity with this Arsenal team. “
It’s hard to argue with any of Scott’s comments on the latest situation at Arsenal.
Arteta inherited a mess at the Emirates Stadium, but it would be difficult to say that he has made things better.
The Spanish has had three transfer windows to fix things, but there are still many problems with the squad.
Scott is right when it comes to Arsenal: they are falling well below the standards expected of a supposedly great club.
