The Las Vegas Police Department arrested New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara immediately after the Pro Bowl Sunday night.
According to the LVPD’s official press release, officers were sent to a nearby hospital at 6 p.m. 17.50 PT Saturday afternoon. The victim reported being attacked at a nightclub in Las Vegas by Saints running back. After the officers’ investigation, the victim later identified the perpetrator as Kamara. He was remanded in custody by Clark County for violence Sunday night.
The investigation is still ongoing. Kamara is reportedly held on a $ 5,000 lease. His first scheduled trial will be Monday, February. 7 p.m. 13.30 PT.
New Orleans Saints return Alvin Kamara’s arrest details
Kamara is charged with a crime. This was the Saints ‘running backs’ fifth trip to the Pro Bowl in his NFL career from Tennessee via Alabama. Until this point in his career, he has been a multi-year Pro Bowler every season since the Saints spent their third-round pick on the versatile tailback of the 2017 NFL Draft. This is the latest sign of trouble in the Saints offseason.
With longtime head coach Sean Payton choosing to retire and the Saints have no long-term future at quarterback position, they may be heading for a rebuild. New Orleans has the worst salary cap situation in the league. Now that their arguably best player faces criminal charges for battery with significant bodily harm, it only gets worse.
This is a development story and there will be more fallout in the coming days and weeks.
