The Manchester United kid should have been on his way to Holland this season
Amad Diallo’s potential loan deal from Manchester United to Feyenoord appears to be dead in the water.
The large number of quality attacking players available to Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Old Trafford had led to the suggestion that Amad could leave the club this summer on a season-long loan deal.
However, these prospects seem to be over. A proposal to move to the Netherlands has been canceled after Amad was injured.
What has been said?
Talking to AD, Feyenoord technical director Frank Arnesen said: “He was injured, it has been canceled. Too bad everything was done. I have talked a lot with people at Manchester United, but it is more sensitive to let him get into that club.
“It may take a while before he comes back.”
There has been no indication from Manchester United what the injury could be or how long Amad could be put on the sidelines.
Amad at Man Utd
Amad joined Manchester United in January from Atalanta, although the deal had been tied well before that.
He was cautiously introduced to the team in the second half of the 2020-21 season, with eight appearances in total, including three appearances in the Premier League. He scored a memorable goal against AC Milan in the last 16 of the Europa League.
With people like Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo arriving to strengthen Solskjær’s offensive opportunities this summer, the prospect of the 19-year-old bidding significantly this season, even in the smaller competitions, is sparse, and with that in mind, Man Utd have tried to move him further to give him experience.
An agreement with Feyenoord had apparently been made before the injury blocked it.
