Everton are preparing to make a € 40 million offer for Spanish attacking midfielder Luis Alberto, according to Lazio Siamo Noi.
Alberto joined Lazio in 2016 from Liverpool. Since then, he has become one of their standout players, scoring 23 and assisting 36 others.
However, the Spaniard recently fell out of favor with Lazio’s hierarchy after publicly criticizing the club for buying a new private jet.
And now it looks like it could be exiting Serie A, with Everton set to make a € 40 million offer, as reported Lazio Siamo Noi.
The Toffees have had a mixed 2020/21 season thus far. They made a great start, winning each of their first seven games. However, four defeats in their last five have clouded matters and they now sit in eighth place.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a big fan of Alberto, whom he apparently tried to sign while in charge at Napoli.
If a deal were to be struck between Everton and Lazio, it remains to be seen where Alberto would be used. The most likely solution seems to be in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the Spaniard playing center-back, James Rodríguez and Richarlison on either side and Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front.
However, it is believed that the € 40 million figure will not be enough to secure his services, as Lazio is reportedly asking for around € 70 million for the 28-year-old. This demand can be reduced to 30% of the sale clause in your contract, which means that Liverpool gets 30% of their transfer fee.
It is believed that Alberto wants to return to Seville, where he began his career. However, Los Nervionenses apparently cannot afford the sale price.
