Market: Derby County draw no bet
Possibilities: 4/5 @ 888sport
Looking to build on what has been a recent revival as we head into the New Years, Derby will make the trip to a struggling Rotherham on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Rotherham may have managed a surprising 2-0 win against play-off hopefuls Bristol City last weekend, the Millers fell back to earth earlier in the week. Making a slow display when they were hit with a 2-1 loss at Blackburn, head coach Paul Warne still finds his team in the middle of a real relegation fight. Now, with only their goal difference keeping them out of the drop zone, the Reds have lost four of their last five Championship contests and have recorded only one second-tier matchup since November 7. Hit with a 6-1 battery when he last faced Saturday’s guests last year, Rotherham also has a real reputation for his widespread problems at the rear. With 27 goals in the Championship so far this season, Warne’s men have the second-worst defensive tally in the division.
As for the visitors, while Derby could have found themselves in the midst of a real crisis when they decided to fire Philip Coco last month, the Rams are enjoying a recent rebound. With Wayne Rooney taking over on a temporary basis and desperate to be relinquished permanently, the Whites were last seen midweek making another show of endurance at Pride Park. After taking a well-deserved 2-0 win against Swansea, who were competing in the play-offs, the former England captain is now with his team enjoying a spectacular six-game unbeaten streak in the championship. With a chance to get out of the relegation zone as we head into the New Year, Derby has also impressed a lot with its recent displays at the rear. Including pocketing a clean sheet against Swansea midweek, Saturday’s guests have gone more than 350 minutes without getting the ball out of their own net.
