Aston Villa manager Dean Smith was understandably furious in his post-match interview with Sky sports after his team was cheated by a point against Manchester United.
Villa, who has been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League season, traveled to Old Trafford after a draw at Stamford Bridge, having defeated Liverpool and Arsenal earlier in the campaign.
Dean Smith’s men would have imagined their possibilities and went toe-to-toe with the Red Devils for most of the contest. However, Bruno Fernandes’ penalty in the second half ultimately cost them what would have been another point won in their unlikely pursuit of European football.
Nor was it an uncontroversially awarded penalty, as Pogba appeared to trip over his own leg and the VAR saw it, but the decision was not overturned.
It’s unclear if Pogba had any intention of misleading the match officials, or if it was just bad luck from Villa’s perspective, but either way, Dean Smith feels like his side has been misled at one point, and can you blame him? ?

“Michael Oliver should be sent to the camera because that’s what VAR is for. Pogba stumbled there. “
