Frenkie de Jong has expressed his desire to stay in his “dream club” Barcelona instead of joining Manchester United.
The Dutch national team player has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for a reunion with Erik ten Hag.
De Jong won the Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup during Ten Hag at Ajax and also helped the Amsterdam giants reach a Champions League semi-final three years ago.
The 25-year-old told ESPN on Tuesday that he is eager to stay at Barca.
“I prefer to stay with Barcelona,” said De Jong.
“Barcelona is just my dream club. Also from a young age. I just said that too. I have never regretted my choice despite the fact that I had hoped for more in terms of prizes than I have achieved so far. But I have never regretted my choice. ”
De Jong, who left his home country to join Blaugrana in 2019, says he has not had contact with United.
“From what I say, there is absolutely nothing of an agreement or anything official. At the moment, there is no question of that at all,” he added.
“At least not what I know of. Or they may not have told me, but I do not think so. “
