ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Arapahoe County (Colorado) District Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to dismiss all charges against Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who was arrested earlier this month for a felony of domestic violence.

A court hearing in the case had previously been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, but the court hearing was abandoned as part of the public prosecutor’s request. A judge must still formally dismiss the charges, but that is expected following the district attorney’s decision.

Jeudi’s lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, told ESPN: “After reviewing the evidence, I always believed that no crime had been committed and all charges would be dismissed.”

Jeudy, 23, was arrested on May 12 and initially charged with second-degree criminal manipulation of a domestic violence amplifier – a misdemeanor. Jeudy spent a night in Arapahoe County Jail under Colorado law, and was later released on a $ 1,500 personal recognition certificate and allowed to contact the victim in the case, who is the mother of his 1-month-old child.

At the time, Sheriff Tyler Brown of Arapahoe County said no physical contact was made during the incident: “It involved property solely and there was no property damage.”

Under Colorado law, the perpetrator of domestic violence was added to the charge because the incident involved property belonging to the mother of Jeudi’s daughter. Under Colorado law, persons charged with domestic violence or an amplifier of domestic violence are detained without restraint until they appear before a judge.

Brown said Jeudy prevented the woman from retrieving several items, including the woman’s purse, medical information about the child and a car seat. Jeudy told police the woman had taken one of his phones. At a court hearing the day after the incident, the woman told a judge that she did not want charges to be brought.

The Broncos are currently in their offseason program and Jeudy has been a regular participant. Jeudy was the Broncos’ first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He missed six games last season with an ankle injury and finished with 38 receptions on 467 yards and no touchdowns.
