The Denver Broncos placed a pair of starters on injured reserve Tuesday.
Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy suffered a high ankle sprain and corner kick Ronald Darby suffered a hamstring injury in Denver’s season-opening win over the New York Giants on Sunday.
Both players will miss at least three games, although no injury is expected to be the end of the season. Jeudy is expected to miss four to six weeks, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter earlier.
Jeudy and Darby will be evaluated week after week after their three-week stay at IR, the team said.
Rookie cornerback Patrick Surtain II, Denver’s first pick in April in the NFL draft, is expected to step into the starting lineup in Darby’s absence.
The Broncos promoted cornerback Nate Hairston and wide receiver Kendall Hinton from their coaching staff to the active roster.
Jeudy had six receptions in 72 yards in Sunday’s game before being injured.
Darby, who signed a $ 30 million three-year contract with the Broncos earlier this year, played all 61 defensive snaps against the Giants before his injury. I have recorded six tackles and one pass break in the win.
