The Buffalo Bills suffered a scare against the Detroit Lions, but were able to pull out the 28-25 victory on Thanksgiving.

In the NFL, the Detroit Lions playing on Thanksgiving is an annual tradition. Unfortunately for Lions fans, that also means a loss on Thanksgiving Day. But the Lions gave the team a lot to be excited about for their future.

The Lions managed to tie the game at 25-25 against the Buffalo Bills with just 23 seconds left. As it turns out, there was too much time left for Bills quarterback Josh Allen to get the team within field goal range. He connected on a 36-yard pass to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. After two scrambles by Allen, Tyler Bass stepped onto the field and hit a 45-yard field goal that squeaked just inside the left goal post.

With this, the Bills are now 8-3 on the season, while the Lions fell to 4-7, ending their three-game winning streak.

Twitter reacts to the Bills beating the Lions on Thanksgiving with a game-winning field goal

Twitter users shared their thoughts on the Bills pulling off the close win in Detroit.

The Lions were able to take a 22-19 lead late early in the fourth quarter on a one-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jared Goff to wide receiver DJ Chark. That score would hold until less than three minutes remained on a five-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Diggs to take the lead 25-22. Detroit was able to march down the field, but with some questionable clock management, and ultimately settled on a 51-yard field goal by Michael Badgley that just snuck into the right upright.

But as all fans saw, it was the Bills who were able to take the lead with just two seconds left.

Allen finished the game completing 24-of-42 pass attempts for 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Goff threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns while completing 23-of-37 pass attempts.

The Bills have now won the last two Thanksgivings. Meanwhile, the Lions will wait until next year to try to win their first Thanksgiving game since 2016.
