KANSAS CITY, Mo. Cincinnati Bengals tight-end CJ Uzomah was taken to the locker room after sustaining a left knee injury in Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Bengals originally said that Uzomah was in doubt about returning before excluding him after the break of their final overtime victory of 27-24. He returned to the sideline using crutches in the second half.
There was no update on his injury after the match.
Uzomah went down after trying to jump to grab the first quarter of the match at Arrowhead Stadium. He was down short before he stumbled off the field, unable to put weight on his left leg.
After a brief evaluation on the team bench and then inside the injury tent, Uzomah was driven by wagon to the locker room. On the way, a visibly distracted Uzomah repeatedly buried his face in a white towel.
The former Auburn standout has been a key player in Cincinnati’s best playoff run in 33 years, with the Bengals now on their way to the Super Bowl. When he got into Sunday’s game, he had 13 catches on 135 yards and a touchdown.
He had zero catches on two goals as he left the match.
