Ben Roethlisberger reportedly believes this will be his last season as the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ playoff chances look a bit bleak after their loss to rival Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. Just hours before their big game against the Baltimore Ravens, some big news fell with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Roethlisberger has privately told former teammates and some in the Steelers organization that he expects this to be his last season playing in Pittsburgh.
Ben Roethlisberger expects this to be his last season with the Steelers
Roethlisberger’s play has been a hit since he missed almost the entire 2019 season due to a shoulder injury. Despite the team starting 11-0 in the 2020 season, signs of Roethlisberger’s regression became apparent. The team brought him back to this season on a revised deal, but his future was highly questionable.
This season, things have not gotten better for Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Through 10 games, Roethlisberger completed 64.6 percent of his passes in 2,522 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.
If this reporting proves to be correct, all eyes will be on the Steelers in the new league year to see how they will find Roethlisberger’s successor. Will they stick with Mason Rudolph? Will they target the trading market? Draft a rookie?
And what about Roethlisberger. If his time with the Steelers is really over, then will he try to continue his career on another team?
The Steelers will be an interesting team to follow this offseason.
