The Chicago Bears interview a recently fired offensive coordinator to add to their coaching staff.

The Chicago Bears have a new regime in place with Ryan Poles as their new general manager and Matt Eberflus as head coach. The Bears already have found their new offensive coordinator in Luke Getsy, the former passing game coordinator for rival Green Bay Packers. But the Bears are still looking to fill their staff and have an exciting name in mind.

According to Albert Breer of The MMQB, the Bears interview former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady on Tuesday, February. 1, to a position in their coaching team.

The Bears reportedly need to interview Joe Brady for a position on the coaching staff

Brady took the leap to the NFL after a successful 2019 season as the coordinator of passing games for the LSU Tigers. Of course, it was the campaign itself where the Tigers went undefeated and won the national championship behind the game of Heisman winner Joe Burrows. He joined the Panthers to be the offensive coordinator under head coach Matt Rhule.

After his first season, Brady received head coach interest from several teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers. But he did not end up with a job and returned to Carolina.

The Panthers’ offense never really clicked, mostly because of the quarterback’s play. After a strong start to the season, Sam Darnold’s game went back until he suffered a shoulder injury. Then the Panthers brought Cam Newton back to help lead the attack, which did not work either. Not only that, but Carolina only had star runner Christian McCaffrey available for 10 games the past two seasons due to injury.

During Carolina’s farewell week, Brady was fired as offensive coordinator. After the season, the Panthers hired former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo to replace him.

It will still be seen if Brady ends up in the Bears’ coaching staff, but they are interviewing him for a role with the team.
