Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich completed a superb second-half comeback to a comfortable 5-2 home win over Mainz.
Bayern Munich came back for an eighth consecutive Bundesliga game in which the champions beat Mainz 5-2 at the Allianz Arena.
Hansi Flick’s team hasn’t taken the lead in a league game since October and could have been looking at the barrel of a second loss of the season if Danny Latza beat Manuel Neuer early in the second half.
Mainz held a 2-0 lead at the time, with Jonathan Burkardt and Alexander Hack scoring in the first half, but Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane restored parity within five minutes.
Robin Quaison hit the wood as 17th-ranked Mainz fought back, though Bayern ultimately had too much.
Niklas Sule’s deflected shot and Robert Lewandowski’s double, the former of which came from vantage point, set up an exciting match for Bayern.
