Bayer Leverkusen have become the latest team to register their interest in up-and-coming Arsenal talent Folarin Balogun, according to mirror.
The 19-year-old looks increasingly likely to leave the Emirates when his contract expires this summer.
How are things, the young forward he is not convinced that he will be given opportunities in the first team. That is despite the fact that Arsenal are willing to retain him.
He has made just five appearances in the senior category this term, scoring two goals. But he still has a chance in the Premier League.
With people like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in front of him, he is reluctant to put pencil on paper on a new contract as his path seems blocked.
Therefore, the Gunners face losing him for free at the end of the season. And there are a lot of teams waiting to attack.
Juventus is one of them, with the Italian champion hoping to succeed Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium.
RB Leipzig is another side of Balogun, although it reports that it has agreed a pre-contract with the German team they were denied.
Premier League rivals Manchester United, Stuttgart and Rennes are also fans of the American-born forward.
Now Bundesliga Leverkusen are looking to tempt another young English talent to Germany.
The progress of people like Jadon sancho and Jude Bellingham have tempted others to follow in their footsteps, and Leverkusen hopes Balogun will be next.
Given that playing time is said to be important to him, the opportunity to thrive with Leverkusen could be tempting. However, Juventus is believed to be his favorite option.
Arteta does not concede defeat
Although most expect Balogun to leave, a man who has not given up hope of retaining him is Mikel Arteta.
The Spaniard has regularly stated that he wants him to stay in North London and is confident that he will.
When asked if he thinks he will leave, Arteta replied, “No, I am still very sure that Flo will stay with us. It is what we try to do as a club and it is what I try to do as a coach.
“From what I know from last week, the player wants to be here.”
However, regardless of Arteta’s optimism, Arsenal have a fight on their hands to keep Balogun beyond his current contract.
